Tom is the Deputy Director and Strategy Advisor for the Washington State Board of Accountancy. He began his service in State Government as a Member of the Washington State Board of Accountancy from June 18, 1996 through June 9, 2002. In 1999 Tom served as Chair of the Board. He is currently a past Chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). Tom previously served NASBA as the Pacific Regional Director, Director-at-Large, Secretary and Vice Chair and Chair, Chair of NASBA's Litigation and Response Committee, Ethics Committee and Compliance Assurance Committee. As Regional Director, he was a member of the Relationship with Member Boards Committee.

As a former owner of the CPA firm, Brink & Sadler, Tom was responsible for litigation-related services, including business valuations. His professional experience includes accounting and consulting service to Brink & Sadler’s accounting and auditing clients, and personal financial, tax and estate planning. Tom's previous employment includes Johnson, Paulson & Stolz, and now part of Ernst & Young. He is accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and is certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

He is a member of the AICPA and Washington Society of CPAs where he has served as a member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Litigation Services Committee, Director and President of the Tacoma Chapter, a member of the Private Companies Practice Section Committee, a member of the Accounting and Review Services Committee, and a member of the Auditing Standards Committee.

Tom is a former member of the Tacoma Estate Planning Council and has served as the Council's secretary/treasurer. He is a past president of the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Lakewood. Tom is a former member of the Tacoma/Pierce County Economic Development Board and the Business Advisory Committee for the Lakes and Clover Park high schools.

Tom holds a Washington State CPA license.
