What is the Board's authority?
Our authority is limited to regulating the practice of public accounting in Washington which includes:
- CPAs
- CPA-Inactive certificateholders
- CPA exam applicants
- CPA firms
- Non-licensee CPA firm owners
The Board does not have any authority over non-CPA accountants or bookkeepers. For complaints against accountants or bookkeepers, contact the Attorney General's Office - Safeguarding Consumers.
